This page lets you choose a base terrain type, and then generate the contents of the terrain. It creates road connections, settlements, dungeon areas (well, just the designation of them being there). If you came here from the random terrain generator page, then the type of terrain has already been selected for you.
Step 1: Choose the terrain type (Swamps are found on Grassland, Forest, and Jungle, so choose one of those if you have a swamp)
Version 0.3 Update: This page "works" but the algorithms are obsolete. You won't be able to get random names here, and the incremental version that explores the tile and tracks time will instead be done on the graphical version.
with a swamp?Step 2: Select road connections. On the image below, the tile being generated is in the center. Choose which tiles have roads going from them into the middle tile. If you have not designated any roads for the adjacent tile, leave it as "Unknown". If you have completed the adjacent tile's roads and know that none of them enter the tile being generated, set it to "No". Note that if you came from the terrain generator and set any tiles there to Ocean, you won't be able to put a road connection to that tile here (roads do not go into the Ocean). Then click the button to go to step 3.
Step 3: Choose which way you want to calculate the tile contents. There are two ways to calculate the rest of the tile. You can have the generator provide complete tile information all at once. This is the most useful method if you are the DM and you want to simply get all the information and provide it to the party in the way you see fit.
Coming soon: The other option is to have the party explore the tile over time. Tile contents will be gradually revealed. This method requires a much greater amount of information to be provided. It has the benefit of generating random encounters as the tile is explored. This method is recommended if you are playing a solo game or are unsure how to provide random encounters.
